30 Days of Gratitude, Day 10: Humanity

Yes, at a very high level, I’m grateful for this species. We may be doing our best to drown ourselves in our own garbage, taking as many other life forms as we can with us. We may, as a species, be aggressive and brutal and savage. We may be stupid and short-sighted.

But we also have the ability to learn, both as individuals and as a whole. And we have the ability to ask questions, about everything from what we should have for lunch to what the fundamental nature of the universe might be.

Those two things together have thrown up such an incredible variety of conditions and experiences and cultures on just this one tiny little ball of dirt we live on.

Yes, there are more than 7 billion of us right now, which means there’s more variety in everything, and more being built every day even as we work to try to understand what we’ve got.

As long as there are people, there will be questions and things to learn. And maybe, just maybe, we will find some really awesome answers along the way, saving ourselves in the process.

Be well, everyone.
