30 Days of Gratitude, Day 4: Health

I’m in fairly good health.

Yes, I could probably drop a few pounds, downsize myself a little, pay a little more attention to what I eat, exercise more. I have learned over the course of 44 years to make changes and take care of myself, and I like to think I’m getting better at it all the time.

You only get one body, one trip around the wheel, and you don’t know how big the wheel is. To make the trip last as long as possible, whatever state you start in, you owe it to yourself to take care of that one body and your mind.

There are certainly plenty of things that are completely beyond your control, that are utterly independent of any action you might take, allowing yourself to stress about those, to constantly worry about those, will not help your health in any way.

What you can do, what I can do, is the best I can with what I have, and take care of the things I’m able to take care of. So I should probably go consume a few fewer calories, go for a few more runs, and not be too hard on myself for things I can’t control.

Being grateful for the health I have.
