I’ve mentioned it here and there but haven’t made a big deal out of it. I don’t often make a big deal out of things, do I? Probably, I should make a bigger deal out of this.
There are a lot of crowdfunding models available for creators now and a lot of different services to take advantage of them. While I likely will branch out to a couple of other things as well, I’ve picked Ko-Fi as a starting point for several reasons.
- Ko-Fi has been around for a couple of years and they seem fairly stable.
- How little they take in commission – nothing on tips/donations and 5% on sales, compared to 30% for Amazon.
- Ease of entry and use – it’s a very easy and intuitive platform.
- Ease of opening a store – for digital products (like ebooks) it’s not much more complicated than uploading a copy of the item and a profile image then setting a price.
So, there is a button on my website, and I’ve started attaching the link to relevant posts and announcements. It should probably be a more important part of my marketing plan. And I should probably have a marketing plan – item #31 on the list. I’ll get there.
But I also don’t want to spam the universe with it.
Right now, though, it’s time to type and edit the donuts.
Be well, everyone.by
