Writing

Back at the Keyboard

I’m writing again.

Not that I ever completely stopped, but it’s been limited, sometimes very limited, since… I went back to school in May 2021.

But this is shaping up to be the least productive year since I started tracking in late 2007. This summer has been filled with employment and significant family events (which don’t need to be detailed here). The numbers would probably look better if I were counting academic writing, of which there has been some, and the professional writing I did for my student job over the summer, but I’ve neglected to leave those out.

I keep debating that. All words should count, but for two years in a row now, I’ve left academics out. The longer I let that go, the more it seems unlikely to change.

But since my summer contract ended I’ve been doing more than just a few minutes of even scribble on the latest poem or song. I’ve finished the first draft of a few flash pieces, done some background website updates and, as hopefully evidenced by this post, started blogging again.

I’m going to try for an average of two posts every week on that score, but I do want to spend a lot more time on the fiction side and I need to make some progress on the second volume of the Memory Project. Podcasting may or may not be in the middle future, even if I am planning a slightly reduced course load this year. Probably.

In the meantime, there are a lot of things on the list before classes start on the 5th.

Be well, everyone.
