    Branch Santa, Part 2

    by Two elves in white lab coats and weighed down by stacks of paper teetered into the office.  In a world of garish, clashing colors, the matching white hats and pointy shoes seemed out of place. Eugene reached the desk first and plopped his stack of paper on the corner, sliding Santa’s In-Out tray to the edge to make space.  “It’s a little earlier than we expected, Chief.” Jan shoved both over and Santa had to rescue the memo-filled tray, noticing Jan’s stack had a DVD on top of it.  Some graphics-filled demo fresh from the burner, no doubt.  Ah well, they don’t get a chance to show off very often.…

    by “Chief!” The door slammed open to allow a little man in pointy shoes, bright blue suit, and a floppy, green felt cap into the office.  Santa didn’t need magic to see the elf was upset about something.  Frank’s tenor, having no resemblance to the helium-filled elves of Hollywood, tried to reach up a few octaves.  “Chief, we’ve got a real problem.” Santa took off his glasses and used two knuckles to massage his right temple.  A ‘real problem’ materialized about once an hour, usually something production related and solvable by someone at least two levels below him.  Well, he’d known Elves were an excitable lot when he took the…
