Life, Writing, Weirdness

Which I’m going to break out into 3 categories: Writing, Writing Adjacent, Publishing.

Writing takes in anything from plotting to final draft. With that in mind, here’s what I’d like to have done by the end of the year:

• Plotting: 2 novels
• First Draft: 1 novel, 8 short stories, 12 pieces of flash fiction
• Final Draft: the Troll World novels (more on those another day)

Writing Adjacent is things to support my writing and help it be visible in the wild. There will be a more of these goals next year, and they’ll be bigger, but for 2024, I just have 3:

• Relaunch the Website. I’m sort of counting this one as done, but it’s going to take a little while to build things up to where I really want them.
• Refresh my Ko-fi page and store. There’s stuff there, but some of it is tied to a Publishing goal, so I haven’t made a big thing of it yet, but here’s the link (Lance’s Ko-Fi shop) just in case you want to go have a look. Everything here with the exception of the samplers is also on Amazon, but Amazon takes a bigger slice of the pie so doing an e-book through Ko-fi will net me a few cents to as much as a dollar more, depending on where we’re starting at.
• Prep a newsletter launch. I say prep as I currently have it flagged as a birthday present for myself and my birthday is at the end of the year. If I’m behind, this will wind up being early 2025.

Publishing, which I’m qualifying any action that involves my independently publishing something, gives someone else the opportunity to publish a piece of my work, or produces an audio version of something I’ve written. There are no audio goals this year, but several for 2025.

• Indie Publishing: 1 novel, 3 shorts, and (for a stretch goal) 1 poetry collection.
• 30 story submissions.
• Do a refresh of fonts, formatting, and maybe even cover on all of my existing indie works.

Feel like I need to get busy.
