That’s how I’m thinking about it, anyway, going along with the tidying up I’m doing around the house after a term feeling like I’ve been neglective my regular chores. Well, let’s be honest, to some degree I’ve been neglecting almost everything that isn’t related to current academics. And maybe even a bit of that here and there.
For the website, I’m doing some reorganization in the background to have things wind up being a bit more inclusive of my life than it might have been in the past. The blog piece of things will be whatever catches my fancy in the moment, though I’ve got some plans for a few regular things (and have even drafted the first couple of one of them), and a lot of it will be writing related.
The overall plan is to split the website into three unequal pieces: Writing, Academics, Martial Arts, the three most important parts of my life after family. Writing will take in the blog since that’s writing on its own after all, but since my academic workload has been so heavy for the last several years there have been long stretches where that gets neglected. I’d like to think that things will improve on that front, and while I’ve thought that before, there are reasons to believe I’ll be more successful finding balance this time.
Most of the changes will be in the background for a week or so yet, available but not linked to anything. That will change all at once, probably as a birthday present to myself, and if I’ve done the background work properly, it will just involve changing the landing page to the website itself. If you only ever come here to read a random blog post I put up, you won’t even notice the difference. But if you’ve got any interest in my work beyond that, there will be more things to see.
