A quick update on the monthly theme this week. The first few days of classes were a bit hectic, and I decided there was some need to take evenings off to ease myself back into the academic life.
That said, I have made some progress on the short story front for January.
I’m not sure if I should count, “The King Sends His Greetings”, a Fantasy flash piece that came in at 539 words on the first draft, but “Beyond Antares” is over 2k at this point and I feel like it’s going to sail past the 6k I was thinking when I had the basic idea and wind up somewhere in novelette territory. If that happens as badly as I think it might, the flash piece might be necessary to meet a count of 4 pieces of short fiction for the month. I just need to be more liberal in my definition of short fiction.
Right now, though, I think it’s time to finish the readings for this afternoon’s Psychology lecture.
Be well, everyone.
