July Writing Summary

(Note: I stupidly left two posts as drafts rather than hitting the ‘schedule’ button, but I’m going to leave the original dates intended.)

Another quick writing summary for the month that just ended. I wound up taking a week or so off from anything that wasn’t handwritten and the last song from the June theme didn’t get transcribed to a document until yesterday, but it wasn’t a bad month overall.

In spite of that time off, I managed 21,516 words for the month, more than twice as much as June. Almost 7k in new fiction, plus editing, finishing the rough plot of a novel-length set of short stories, and most of the rest of the words going into Volume 3 of the Memory Project. No first drafts finished, but a couple in progress.

The July theme, Songs of Summer, I’ve counted as a success and will give real details on that tomorrow. August theme is Memories and I have high hopes for that.

I’m anticipating a higher word count for August as part of what I have planned involved some transcriptions of handwritten work that came out of a box I packed before COVID. It’s a scattering of stuff that seems to span 1999 to 2016 where I can establish dates.

Be well, everyone.
