Long past time, really. While I’m not going to go into details on the various life events that are affecting my writing output, I will hit a few high points:
- I substantially missed both the January and February theme goals. Mostly not for reasons of crazy amounts of time spent on academics, which I’m trying to mitigate this term, but there are external factors. These are ongoing such that I’m ignoring the planned themes for March and April, and I’m considering making adjustments to the rest of the year.
- I have managed a little writing, a little editing, a little plotting, and a little work on the Memory Project, but not enough on any of these to count as huge successes, even if I’m happy with what I have accomplished. Before starting this update post, I’m at barely 33,000 words for the year.
- Things will get better. My exam period will be over very early this year, the 10th of April, and I have several weeks before officially becoming a graduate student. I do plan on doing a little sleep catch up during that time, finding extra time to spend with my family, and doing all of the housework I’ve let slide, but by the time I make the transition to grad student, I should be back in the swing. For summer term, I understand my instructions to be to treat things like a true work week. If I’m caught putting in 10-hour days, it better be because I’ve told my supervisor I want to take a long weekend and I’m only working four days that week. We’ll see what September brings. There are some ongoing larger campus issues, too, that aren’t directly related to my academics but do affect some things.
There probably won’t be a lot of posting going on here until after my last exam, but I’ll try to manage a little something here and there.
Be well, everyone.
