CASCA 2026

CASCA (Canadian Astronomical Society, Société Canadienne d’Astronomie) has an annual conference in June. This is my second time attending and I’ll be presenting a poster again this year.

During the graduate student workshop last year, there was discussion around the fact that there used to be a larger French presence at the conferences and that it was a loss overall to not have the linguistic expression and expansion available. There also wasn’t a clear idea on how to rectify that or even approach starting to.

This year, the conference is in Montreal and while my French cannot in any way be said to be good, I can fumble my way (slowly) through a translation of my own and have a QR code to link to an online copy. If I feed my French text into a translator to get English back, it comes back as essentially what I want it to say, but it’s currently being reviewed by someone who’s actually bilingual.

So for the moment, here’s the English version, and the one I can effectively speak to. The French version will join it shortly.
