Lance the Viewer

You’ve discovered the semi-secret page. In fits and spurts, I consume a fair bit of media, although not much of it current. I talk now and then about what I’m watching and how I can’t binge like most people seem to be able to. Rather than posting about it every few months, I thought a dedicated page might be nice, updated whenever I remember to do so.

The Current TV Rotation

The Rotation generally has 10 shows in it. I like variety in my viewing and usually cycle through, often in alphabetical order which, yes, I know is a weird way to organize your viewing (when a “new” show replaces one I’ve finished watching, the order gets adjusted).

Note that there are a couple of new shows in the rotation for this update. Rick and Morty makes a comeback after I finished the single season of Time Bandits (which ended on a cliffhanger and then was cancelled by the network non-creatives at Apple TV), and Intergalactic replaced In From the Cold. I wanted to like In From the Cold, a Cold War legacy spy thriller with a Science Fiction element, but the narrative insisted on switching back and forth between two time periods to try to have two slow reveals. I typically find this type of storytelling annoying and by the end of the second episode, with the promise that was going to continue through the whole series, decided I was done. It might be great, but probably for me only if the two timelines are told separately.

I’ve only got two episodes left of Eerie Indiana and only six episodes of each of the final season of The Tick animated and the only season of The Watch, so other shows will appear in the near future, too. I may even already know what they are.

Things in this group aren’t part of the regular rotation, exactly. They might be things I’m watching with one of my kids or streaming on YouTube once in a while, or even occasionally on a streaming service (we rotate between several of those). Next up:

The Last Five Movies I Watched

I don’t do a lot of rewatches, but there are a few. I also don’t do a lot of current stuff because I’m nearly always disappointed in the writing. There hasn’t been something yet this year that demanded I watch it in theatre. I need more than just eye candy to part with the price of a ticket, so while there are a number of 2026 movies I think I’d like to see, every single one of them falls under the heading of “wait until it comes to a streaming service I already have”.

But I do watch movies, typically getting in around 40 a year and this year I’m hoping to hit 50 but that will probably come at the expense of slowing my episodic viewing from its already not-rapid pace. I’ll try to update this piece whenever it’s five new ones. Most recent watch is at number one and working backward in time from there.
